User’s Guide
DATABASE TOOLS

All the primary sequence data and descriptive information imported during the annotation process are stored in a searchable database here. The user interface for the database is known as ESTIMA (EST Information Management Application), which has been developed at the Keck Institute and used in other genomics projects. The ESTIMA interface is still under refinement, but is designed to be relatively self-explanatory.

Note that, via this interface, for each EST in the database you can retrieve:

Note that you can search the database for words that appear in the description fields, or by using formal Gene Ontology terms. You may also conduct a BLAST similarity search by entering your own sequence(s) of interest.

ORDERING LIBRARIES

All ESTs from the SB01/02/03 libraries are avaliable through the Clemson University Genomics Institute (CUGI) for a nominal fee. We strongly encourage researchers to verify purchased clones by fully sequencing them prior to use. We request the return of additional sequence information to help complete this database, and should there be any errors/discrepancies, we appreciate notification so that we may correct our information as necessary. Because the SB01 and SB02/03 libraries were constructed with different vectors and at different facilities, please note that they are being distributed as two different libraries. When ordering, carefully cross-check your requested sequence ID(s) with the Clemson library name to prevent errors.

DISCLAIMERS

Finally, we wish to stress Songbird Neurogenomics Initiative is an open collaborative effort, paid for with public funds and intended for the general use of the scientific community. The information here has been developed in good faith but is not warranted in any way.
